Roulette Rules

Roulette is a pretty straightforward game to play, as long as you know about the roulette rules such as the different types of roulette bets available to you and how to place them. The object of the game is to make a wager on the outcome of a ball that spins around a wheel that is separated in to compartments. Each of the compartments has a designated number and color, be it red, black or green.

When you place your bet you can bet on a specific number, or a characteristic of a number. You can bet that the ball will land on an odd or even number, within the first 12 numbers, or fall within a column of numbers on the roulette table layout. You can also bet whether the ball will land on a red or black pocket, or that it will pass those and land in the obscure green 0 pocket.

There are two different types of roulette bets that can be placed, and they may be placed in any combination or arrangement you would like. These types of bets are called the inside bets and outside bets. Inside bets are the bets you place on the internal section of the roulette table, where you would place a bet on a specific number. Surrounding the outside of the roulette table are a number of other betting options, and these are referred to as outside bets.

When making inside bets, your collective bet must equal the table minimum. So, if you are playing at a $5 minimum table and you want to bet on individual numbers, the least you could bet would be five $1 bets or one $5 bet. Of course, you can always bet more than the table minimum, because it is, after all, the minimum.

Outside bets are a little different. Every outside bet must equal the table minimum, and the value of any bets cannot be combined. This means that if you would like to place a bet on odds and reds, you must put $5 on both odds and reds, making a total bet of $10. The last thing to remember about outside bets is that they cannot be contributed towards your inside bets.

Online Roulette Game Rules

The rules for casino roulette are moderatley different than Online Roulette Game Rules. When playing roulette in a casino, and not online roulette because it is somewhat simpler, wait until a previous session ends and the dealer states to 'place your bets' before you start. At this time every one will start to place their chips or money on their desired roulette bets. If you are also joining in on the roulette game, you will cash in and get chips of a certain color, set to a value of your choice – each player has their own chip color.

To place your bets on the outside, you my drop them as you wish, and to place bets on the inside, you would pass your bet to the dealer and tell him where you would like to bet. The dealer will spin the ball, wait a moment or so, and then wave their hands over the table and say “No more bets”. When the wheel stops spinning, and the ball has found its pocket of choice, the dealers will place a marker on top of the winning inside bet, clear the board, and then pay off all the winning bets.

When playing roulette online, you will notice that much of the extra hassles are gone. You don’t need to pay attention to the dealer to know if it is alright to bet. You also don’t need to worry about accidentally under-betting on inside bets. When you learn to play roulette with online software it adds the benefit of being able to test your roulette strategies without testing your pocketbook.
